Woolsthorpe manor - sir Isaac Newton's family house

Hello dear readers!

Woolsthorpe manor the family house of Sir Isaac Newton.

I thought we could start this wonderful Saturday morning with a story of how I spent one of my Saturday mornings, at Woolsthorpe manor - the family house of sir Isaac Newton.

The story behind this mansion isn’t one that I know fairly well, all I know is that Isaac Newton was born here and lived here till he went to Cambridge to study (although his mother wanted him to be a farmer living a calm and peaceful life, Isaac wanted more and he did get it by finding gravity and much more) but when the plague hit Cambridge in 1665, he was forced to move back into his family house.

Throughout his childhood, Isaac Newton wasn't like the others, he would often skip meals and sleep to just gaze at the moon and stars and wonder..."Why does the moon not fall down" or "when something falls, why does it fall down and not up" and to people back in the 1600's this was very peculiar and strange! And so, as the legend goes, one fine day he was out in his manor's apple orchid and an apple did very well fall BESIDE HIM - not on his head that is a myth - and that's when Gravity was discovered and the rest was history.

This picture was taken in Isaac's bedroom where he had put a hole through his window and placed a prism in a particularly precise way so that the sunlight reflected off of it and created this beautiful sight.

The picture below is indeed the apple tree which once bared the apple that made the theory of Gravity a fact, I know its true because that picture was taken by yours truly and I can assure you that the tree is nearly 400 years old! This wasn't the only bizarre yet amusing thing about my trip to Woolsthorpe manor, I learnt that Sir Isaac Newton scribbled on walls! And after seeing how messy his room was nearly made me faint! But jokes aside it was a very educational trip and I learnt many things like how every colour in light mixed together will make white by seeing the hole Isaac Newton put in his window and placed a prism in a particular place so the sunlight will turn into many colours when reflecting of the prism and on the wall, and the three laws of motion: 1.Inertia 2. Force 3.Action and Reaction.

The famous apple tree that bared the famous Apple of Sir Isaac Newton.

I definitely recommend this trip, its very educational, interactive and fun!

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask :)

I hope you have a wonderful day! Until next time my dear readers...this is Renita Richard, signing out.

P.S here are some pictures!...

This is the kitchen in the manor - the table set out filled with food which Isaac never seemed to eat!
